Human Resources
Why is it important to my business?
Human Resources covers a broad range of people related areas such as compensation and benefits, recruiting and hiring employees, onboarding employees, performance management, training, and organisation development and culture. A skilled, engaged and diverse workforce is critical to business performance and just as a business carefully manages its capital investments to optimise the long-term value of all assets, human capital needs to be planned to maximise the value the workforce delivers.
Successful companies recruit and build the skills and capabilities of their people to reflect future business requirements supported by appropriate policies and systems to promote diversity and to ensure discrimination is prevented on the basis of disability, gender, religion, or race.
An organisation’s People strategy, together with employee commitment, forms the framework that guides how companies attract, develop, engage and retain talented people, and should align with the business strategy. Appropriate incentives must be in place to shape and promote the right behaviours. Systems enable respect for employees and prevent bullying and harassment.
