Introduction to Governance Evaluations (self – assessments)
To assist board members and business owners navigate the increasing complexities associated with governance, risk and compliance, we have developed a series of online self assessments to help your organisation answer important questions around the organisation’s control environment, risk management, control activities that affective organisational performance together with monitoring and communication mechanisms.
Each Governance Evaluation Questionnaire (GEQ) comes with a free downloadable scorecard with actions putting valuable information at your fingertips for management and board discussions. It provides a more efficient alternative to traditional off-the-shelf surveys and is more cost-effective than hiring external consultants.
Each of these questionnaires has been informed by our expertise and experience with corporate governance practices across a wide range of industries. The questions have been aligned with COSO (The Committee of Sponsoring Organisations of the Treadway Commission) which is a joint initiative of private sector organisations and is dedicated to providing thought leadership through the development of frameworks and guidance on enterprise risk management, internal control and fraud deterrence.
To make the governance experience easier, we have integrated the questions with tools, guidance and advisory capability that will help business owners and boards alike improve their governance practices.
About the Questionnaire
Now that you have agreed to proceed, you will be asked to provide responses to 10 questions. Each question uses a five-point Likert scale ranging from ‘strongly agree’ to ‘strongly disagree’ to allow you to express how much you agree or disagree with a particular statement. The questionnaire is designed to be completed in less than 5 minutes. Each question has been aligned with COSO, however the resulting scorecard is derived from a range of calculations and factors selected by us. The formulae used in making the calculations have been derived by internal staff and are unique to us. No independent testing of the GEQ has been conducted by any third party organisation verifying its validity or accuracy.
You will need to first register in order to complete the questionnaire and view the scorecard showing the results of your assessment. The results will be accompanied by some general comments on potential actions that can be taken to improve governance in your business. The potential actions listed on the scorecard should not be construed as providing legal or commercial advice. They are area(s) that have been identified by the GEQ where you may wish to seek professional advice or purchase documents, tools and resources to support further work in these area(s).
